Verstovšek Rosé Cru Silnica represents a new vision of structural rosé, produced from Modra Frankinja from the Pišece valley. The Silnica vineyard was planted in 1975 and is situated on the south-western slope at an altitude of 250 m. It is part of the Kozjansko Regional Park, one of the oldest and largest protected areas in Slovenia, with a rich biodiversity that also enriches our wines.
The clay-loam soils with high water retention capacity create excellent conditions for a rich and structured rosé.
The hand-picked Modra Frankinja grapes were chilled overnight at 10 °C, gently de-stemmed and pressed in an inert atmosphere. This was followed by alcoholic fermentation with the vineyard's own Silnica yeast starter in 500 litre tonneaux oak tanks. After biological fermentation, this exceptional Rosé Cru was matured for 6 months in barrel and 3 months in inox tanks on its own lees.
