Verstovšek Modra Frankinja Classic is grown in the hilly Marof vineyard, which is part of the Pišece Valley in the Bizeljsko-Sremic wine-growing region. The vineyard is situated on a south-west facing slope at an altitude of 230 metres and is part of the Kozjansko Regional Park. The grapes for this elegant wine are selected only from the upper part of the hill, where the soil has a lower water retention capacity, which results in moderate drought stress during summer and consequently in optimal ripeness of the tannins.
The hand-picked Modra Frankinja grapes were cooled overnight at 10 °C, carefully destemmed and macerated with whole berries. After a three-day cold premaceration, grapes were fermented and macerated for twenty days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured in oak barrels for 15 months.
